Board Vice Chair Tom Kyros will serve out the remainder of the term

Livonia, MI, July 15, 2026 – Citizens Research Council of Michigan today announced that Carolee Kvoriak, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors, will step down from her leadership role as she accepts a new professional opportunity in Washington, D.C. Her resignation from the positions of Chairwoman, Board Director, and Council Trustee is effective July 15, 2026.

Board Vice Chair Tom Kyros will assume the responsibilities of Chair and serve out the remainder of the term through the Council’s Annual Meeting on September 30, 2026.

Kvoriak joined the Board of Directors in 2015 and became Chairwoman in March 2024. She is only the third woman to serve in this role. Throughout her tenure, she has been a steadfast champion of the Council’s mission, securing support from her employer, Consumers Energy, and collaborating with fellow directors to expand the Council’s reach through events, partnerships, and strategic planning.

Kyros, an attorney with Varnum’s Grand Rapids office, has served on the Board since 2019 and has been an active contributor through committee service and regional engagement. As part of the Grand Rapids cohort of directors, he has hosted multiple events to elevate the Council’s research and strengthen its statewide presence. He will be the second Board Chair from Grand Rapids.
