Con-Con Series Wrap-Up: ZOOM MEDIA AVAILABILITY

Tuesday, September 22, 10:30 – 11:30 am: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/6540653559?pwd=S2U2dms3dUVBZFluMUpCSGVSWEpoUT09&omn=83291948986

WHO:          Citizens Research Council of Michigan, Eric Lupher, president; Research Council staff.

WHAT:        On Tuesday, September 22, 2026, the Citizens Research Council of Michigan will publish its 15th and final paper in a series on the Michigan Constitution. The series aims to provide voters with information ahead of the General Election to help them decide whether convening a constitutional convention (or Con-Con) is currently in Michigan’s best interest.

This media availability will offer insights into the series and take media questions, highlighting issues and areas from the state constitution’s 12 Articles that would most likely be revised if voters approve holding a constitutional convention.

WHY:          Michigan’s general election, held on November 3, 2026, will ask statewide voters to vote YES or NO on Proposal 2026-01, which asks whether a constitutional convention (or “con-con”) should be convened to conduct a general revision of the 1963 Michigan Constitution. If voters reject it, it will automatically appear on the ballot again in 2042.

Proposal 2026-01 will ask voters:
Shall a convention of elected delegates be called for the purpose of a general revision of the Michigan Constitution, any such revision to be submitted to the voters for ratification?

Lupher will outline the highlights from the series and take questions from the media.

The full series, except for Article XII, which will be published that day, is available here: https://crcmich.org/publications/2026con-con-2
