Funded Public Policy Research

The Citizens Research Council of Michigan is a research partner willing to engage in research projects for partners willing to fund the work, under the right conditions.

1. The Research Council will not undertake a project to reach a foregone conclusion. The research and writing will be driven by the facts and in depth understanding of the policy issues.

2. The appearance of compromised independence and integrity in the work is as important as the reality. Research staff will undertake projects with full intent to be impartial and unbiased, but we cannot accept any funding related to specific projects that appear to suggest otherwise.

3. Research staff will work with the funder to define the scope of the project, check in with the funder on occasion as the project may warrant, and welcomes any input related to typographical errors and substantial errors in facts, but the funders may not edit the report. The Citizens Research Council is solely responsible for report contents.

Should later research of facts better inform the Citizens Research Council staff’s understanding of the issue, the Citizens Research Council retains the right and responsibility to modify the initial outline.

The Citizens Research Council will be available to meet and discuss any issues raised by funder(s) prior to publication.

4. The Citizens Research Council will consult with the funder on timing of the report’s release, but retains solely responsible for determining when the research will be published.Ā  All Citizens Research Council published reports will be make available for free on the Citizens Research Council website, without restriction.
