Statewide Ballot Issues
Analyzed the six proposals which were on the statewide ballot at the November 1996 general election, including:
Proposal A: Political Bingo (whether it should be banned);
Proposal B: Judicial Qualifications (constitutional amendment to require 5 years on the bar);
Proposal C: State Veterans’ Trust Fund (to place in the constitution to avoid future diversions);
Proposal D: Bear Hunting Restrictions (prohibit use of bait piles and dogs for hunting black bears);
Proposal E: Casino Gambling in Detroit (establish Gaming Control And Revenue Act);
Proposal G: Hunting Regulation (vest authority for all hunting regulation, including bear hunting, in the Natural Resources Commission).
