School District Organization in Michigan This paper provides background information useful for a serious discussion of school district reorganization by public officials and interested citizens. First, the paper provides an historical perspective of school district organization by tracing the evolution of school districts beginning with the period Michigan was a territory. It also describes the existing statutory methods for altering school district boundaries.
